Overview

In the Township of South Hackensack all Health Department services are provided by Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commission. The town’s part time Registered Environmental Health Specialist, routinely inspects all licensed retail food establishments in the Township to insure compliance with the State Food Regulations. In addition (1) child care center, (1) public school, (5) motels, and (2) recreational bathing facilities are inspected annually.

During the year, the Health Department receives many citizen complaints, which are investigated by the Health Department. Complaints cover a wide range of areas, including garbage, housing conditions, animals, food establishment, animal bites to humans, rodents, etc. Complainants contacting the Health Department for assistance should be prepared to leave their name, address and telephone number for proper follow up.
