What To Do If You Receive a Summons

If the Court Appearance Required box on the ticket is not checked you may pay your fine at the Court Administrator’s office, by mail, or online using NJMCdirect. Payment must be received by the date listed at the bottom of your summons.

If you would like to plead not guilty, please contact the Court Administrator’s office at least seven days before to the date listed at the bottom of the summons to schedule your case.

Please note: All criminal matters require a Court Appearance. You may represent yourself or have an attorney represent you. The Court cannot recommend a lawyer, but we can provide you with the telephone number of a local lawyer referral service. If you cannot afford an attorney you may be eligible for a Public Defender.

To Pay By Mail

Complete the Appearance, Plea and Waiver section on the back of the ticket and mail it with the proper amount. If the fine amount is not listed on the back of the ticket, please call the Court Administrator’s office.

To pay online go to www.njmcdirect.com and enter the information requested. The amount due will be shown and can be paid using a credit card. Please note that there is a convenience fee for this service.
